Kimberli Cummings began her love for pottery at Tampa's Clay Factory in 1991. Originally, it was to heal from a broken marriage. On her daily drive home, the clay store's sign blared the words 'Come on and call, you know you've always wanted this!' That was the first 'sign' that this was the right path to follow. There, she was able to to study with many local and internationally recognized potters. She learned to RAKU (in Japanese this means 'to have fun') with Robert Piepenberg, make raw, organic forms with Paul Soldner and Peter Voulkos, structure and form from Scott L. Aubrey, and paint fantastic creatures with colorful glazes by her beloved teacher, the late Rudy Autio (Archie Bray Foundation).
Thanks to Linda Arbuckle’s in depth training in the art of MAJOLICA glazing, her work now pops with colors resembling the warm surroundings of her Florida home. Surface favorites are sunsets, gardens of fruit and sea creatures presenting themselves on platters, sangria pitchers, tableware and Tango Dancer vases. She keeps busy in studio by creating custom wedding, anniversary and birthday pots to include facial likenesses, names and dates. Please consider a custom made piece when searching for a meaningful and memorable gift.
Kimberli was chosen to represent Tampa as a potter on HGTV's That's Clever! She demonstrated how to make her Tango Dancers dance. Born and raised in Tampa, Kimberli attended Gorrie Elementary, Wilson Middle, Plant High, and University of South Florida. After an extended acting career both in Tampa and Los Angeles she moved back to Tampa.
